HOST A HOUSE SHOW

What exactly is a House Show?

Simply put, it’s just what it sounds like ~ a show in a house! Any space you have access to, like a coffeehouse, a community center, a theatre space (conventional or unconventional), or your living room are all possible spaces. Most spaces we can make work. These shows are the best way to hear the stories behind the songs & poetry and connect in an intimate way without all of the extra “big stage” production juice that takes up time, energy, and resources.

House shows (and intimate venues) amplify the beauty of the human connection that happens where guest and artist really feel the storytelling through song, poetry, and dance in a meaningful, enduring way.

Some folks are curious if it’s possible to host a show outdoors so that there’s room for more people or to just be immersed in nature and maybe stick your toes in the dirt. We love that! One caveat though ~ sometimes being outdoors brings distraction and noise that may affect the intimacy and quietude that lives in indoor spaces. But we are open to creative hosting ideas! Feel free to send pictures / ask questions and we can talk about your vision.

What does your House Show consist of?

We are dynamic, lyrically-inspired performing artists who tell provocative & evocative stories of LOVE & TRUTH through original song, musicianship, poetry, and dance for the purpose of healing & liberation.

We bring our own mics, sound equipment, instruments, and chairs/stands. We also have access to professional theatre lighting that we can bring as well, if the space allows for it and if that is a feature that you as the host would like to have as part of the experiential feel of the show.

Our shows are typically 1 1/2 hour long, including 10 to 15 minutes of audience engagement at the end of the show for questions, comments, reactions.

Do I need to have a big space to host a show?

It might sound surprising, but no! Some of our very favorite and most memorable shows have been in a cozy living room with blankets and pillows on the floor for extra seating, a friend’s back porch, a university’s classroom, the Jungle Room of the Mercury Cafe in Denver, CO, a rustic barn, and a conference room of a pottery / woodworking / metalsmithing makers space. As long as we can fit two chairs, two mics, a guitar, and your beautiful guests, it will work brilliantly! House shows are magical and incredibly memorable for us as artists and for the guests because the energy of the space is truly filled with LOVE! If you have even the slightest feeling that your space could work, it absolutely will!

How many people do I need to bring?

This part is 100% up to you! We have performed shows for 5 people sitting in a classroom to hundreds of folks packed in shoulder to shoulder in an old jazz club. Every experience is unique and brings its own special brand of memorable magic. The average is probably between 20 to 30 folks.

How do I get people to come?

We would be more than happy to promote the show on our end through social media platforms (after getting the green light from you first). We can also create promotional materials / flyers (digital and hard copies) for you as the host to use on your social media platforms and to physically give to the community you’d like to invite.

Some hosts pay a flat-fee to avoid charging tickets, others rely on ticket sales, and others do a mix of both.

How much does it cost?

We would love to share our pricing information with you! Please send us an email at: tonyandvienne@gmail.com.

Pricing depends on the venue and the extent of travel and lodging considerations.

How far are you willing to travel to do a Show?

Anywhere! We LOVE to travel and meet people. Our passports are renewed and ready for additional stamps! We live in the Midwest and have performed shows here within our region. We have traveled to NYC and out west to Colorado to perform shows.

As long as our travel costs are covered and it makes sense logistically and financially, we will make arrangements to be there as soon as we can.
