More than a decade ago, my husband Tony and I were invited to our friends’ destination wedding. We had no money to buy new clothes for the wedding. The old adage, Necessity is the Mother of Invention, rang true for me because out of necessity, I made myself a dress from scrap fabric I had been collecting in an old wooden chest I made in 8th grade woodshop class. I bought a needle and some thread, trusted my intuition and sewed the scraps together onto my body into a shape that became my signature ROSE LINE MAXI. Women at the wedding loved my dress, and asked where I got it….VIENNE REY CLOTHING & EXCHANGE was born in that moment.

I absolutely LOVE designing and making clothing to celebrate the gorgeous silhouette of women…...an honoring of our collective beauty and power as creators.

All of my creations are one-of-ones…...I don’t use or make patterns.

My designs are made mostly from thrifted and scrap textile that would otherwise end up in landfill. I only use material that feels good on the skin …… cotton, bamboo, jersey, well-loved denim, silk, lace.

My designs are fluid …… EVERY WEAR. They can be rocked as day wear, evening wear, resort wear, and everything in between. 

I love PLAY! There are no rules governing how to decorate the body….except the RULES we create.

How glorious to wear an evening length skirt with a re-worked denim jacket, silk headwrap and shoulder dusting earrings to go grocery shopping! If it makes you feel beautiful and lights you up inside, do it. Why not?
